RMON Probe Information

The RMON Probe information option of the menu provides information on the RMON probe version and capabilities.

The following information is available in this dialog box.

Host Name : The Host Name (Probe or Switch Name) attached to the IP address as defined in the LoriotPro directory. The host name can be the snmp host name but any other name that you may have defined in the directory.

Probe IP Address: The IP address of the host.

Probe Description : The description of this host (RMON Probe or RMON capable switch) defined in the SNMP agent (object sysdesc) of this host. If the host is not responding to SNMP request this field is empty or the noSuchObject value is displayed. The SNMPv2-MIB must be compiled on LoriotPro.

Probe Location : Specify where the probe is located if the probe administrator has declare any location in the probe configuration (snmp object syslocation). The SNMPv2-MIB must be compiled on LoriotPro.

Probe Type : The type of device of this host (RMON Probe or RMON capable switch) defined in the SNMP agent (object sysobjectid)of this host. If the host is not responding to SNMP request this field is empty or the noSuchObject value is displayed. The SNMPv2-MIB must be compiled on LoriotPro.

Probe Date and Time : Provide the current date and time of the Probe (SNMP object: probeDateTime). The RMON2-MIB must be compiled on LoriotPro and the Probe should be RMON2 compatible and support the group 19 (probeConfig) else this field is empty or contains the noSuchObject value.

Probe Software revision : The software revision of the RMON Probe (SNMP object: probeSoftwareRev). The RMON2-MIB must be compiled on LoriotPro and the Probe should be RMON2 compatible and support the group 19 (probeConfig) else this field is empty or contains the noSuchObject value.

Probe Hardware Revision : The hardware revision of the RMON Probe (SNMP object: probeHardwareRev). The RMON2-MIB must be compiled on LoriotPro and the Probe should be RMON2 compatible and support the group 19 (probeConfig) else this field is empty or contains the noSuchObject value.

The following example display the Probe Information of a switch that is RMON 1 (4 groups) compliant.

The probe type value is not verbose, the proprietary MIB files of the switch are certainly not compiled. Normally the filed contains the type and model of the device .
